Christian Education At St. Stephen's
The Christian Education program at St. Stephen's has something for all ages nursery to adult.
On Sundays, grades Pre-K to 6th meet in the classrooms in the undercroft of the church. In the nursery care room, toddlers and preschool children are introduced to Bible stories and the seasons of the church year through books, flannel board stories, music, and art activities. A mix of the Godly Play curriculum and the Beulah Land Story series is used with this class. Children in grades 1-6 learn about the Old and New Testaments as well as the church year and sacraments through Bible readings, games, and activities geared towards their age groups using the Episcopal Children's Curriculum At the exchange of the Peace during the service, the young people join their families in church for the rest of the morning worship.
The High School class (grades 7-12) meets on the first and third Wednesday of each month at 6 p.m.in the Rectory. The curriculum includes discussion of issues teenagers face, as well as the resources and content available to them in scripture, Prayer Book, and the church tradition. The evening usually ends at 7:15 p.m.
Christian Education for adults includes the Thursday Morning Bible Study, Wednesday Evenings in Lent, and other programs and speakers planned throughout the year. Three Parish Family Evenings are planned. There is one for All Hallows Eve, one for Advent and one for Lent. Each is held in Conklin Hall from 5-7 p.m. These are activities for the whole family centered on the seasons of the Church Year. For more information, please see Sarah Dattilo, or call (609)387-0169.
